Autumn 2011. The trees start to change color in September and October. Fall color is temperature dependent, so the cooler northern parts of Minnesota peak towards the end of September. Then central parts of the state and the metro area peak in early October, and the warmer souther parts of the state have peak fall color usually until mid October.
